  Some operations, such as creating item structure, are more conveniently performed using multiple Item Explorer windows.

• Refreshing the Display
  

  Item Explorer periodically refreshes your view of vault data. You can also refresh manually to ensure you see recent vault changes, such as new items or versions created by other users.

• Expanding and Collapsing Items and Folders
  

  You can expand and collapse folders in the navigation pane and items in the main pane to show or hide their content.

  In some dialog boxes, you can optionally bulk select the references of a parent file. Enable this feature to simplify selecting multiple references. Disable this feature to simplify the user interface.

  The Item Explorer operations you can perform on items, files, and folders are controlled by Enterprise PDM permissions.

• Item and File Caching
  

  Item Explorer retrieves items and files from the vault and caches them on your local hard drive. Only one version of a given item or file is cached at a time.
