Gamma Adjustment Example

You can adjust Gamma in the Final Render window to change the brightness of the midtones in your output image.

When you decrease the Gamma value, the midtones in your image darken. When you increase the Gamma value, the midtones lighten. In both cases, extreme whites and blacks are unaffected.

In the following example, the white and black reflections on top of the flashlight remain unaffected, regardless of how dark or light the rest of the image becomes.

Rendered image Gamma setting
flashlight_render_gamma_point5.jpg 0.5
flashlight_render_gamma_1.jpg 1.0
flashlight_render_gamma_1point6.jpg 1.6 (default value)
flashlight_render_gamma_3.jpg 3.0
