Defining Material as a Design Variable

You define a material parameter and you add it as a variable in the design study.

  1. Open the Design Study.
  2. On the Table View tab, expand Variables, and select Add Parameter. In the Parameters dialog box:
    1. Under Name, type a name for the parameter, for example mat.
    2. Under Category, select Material.

The knob's single body is listed under References with a check box.

In cases of multibody parts or assembly documents, all bodies are listed under References. Select the bodies to assign their material as design variables.

    3. Click Apply.

An asterisk under Linked shows that the body's material definition is now linked to the material parameter.

    4. Click OK.
