Design Evaluation of a Knob based on Material

You run three design scenarios of a knob part by varying its material definition for each scenario.

You create a design variable based on the knob's material definition. You assign a different material definition for each design scenario.

To open the model, go to install_dir\samples\whatsnew\DesignStudies\knob.sldprt.

Review the Ready Study features:
  • Applies a torque to the handle.
  • Prevents the inner cylindrical face from twisting.
  • Prevents the knob from moving along the axial direction.

Review the Design Study features:

  • Defines model dimensions as parameters: Cut_Diameter, Cyl_Ht, and Cut_Depth.
  • Sets two constraints: a) FOS greater than 2.0 and b) monitoring of mass.
  • Sets design scenarios with given values for the three design variables.
