Card Editor Controls Toolbar

Use the Controls toolbar to add controls to a data card. Set properties for the control using the options in the control's properties pane.

To display the toolbar:

Click View > Show Toolbars > Controls.

Card Appearance

These controls let you control the appearance of the card.

You can also control card appearance by aligning and glueing data card controls.

Move and Resize Select, move, or resize existing controls.  
Icon Add an icon or image. Image Properties
Static Text Type text or select dynamic text to be displayed as read-only text on the data card. Text Properties
Frame Add a frame. Frame Properties
Tab Control Add visible (or hidden) tabs to divide data card sections into multiple tabbed pages. Tab Properties

Interactive Controls

These controls let users:

Edit View values stored in the vault database and enter new values. Edit-box Properties  
Button Launch an application, add-in, or web page. Button Properties
Radio-button Select a predefined value. Radio-button Properties
Combobox Dropdown Select from a drop-down list of values you define, or enter their own value. Combobox Properties
Combobox Droplist Select from a drop-down list of values you define. Users cannot enter a value. Droplist Properties
Combobox Simple Select from a permanently visible list of values you define. Combolist Properties
List Select from a scrollable list of values you define. Listbox Properties
Checkbox Select a check box. Checkbox Properties
Date Field Select a date from a calendar. Date Field Properties
Card Search Control On a search card, select which data card layout to use. Card Search Control
Variable Search Control On a search card, select the variables to search in. Variable Search Control

  • Card Properties

    Use the Card Properties pane to select the type of data card and specify type-related values such as whether the card is resizable by the user, and who has permission to view the card.

  • Open/Save As Card Dialog Box

    Use the Open Card dialog box to list the available data cards based on card type and select the card to open. Use the Save As dialog box to save new or modified data cards.

  • Image Properties

    Use the Image properties pane to add an image to the data card.

  • Text Properties

    Use the Text properties pane to add text labels to data card controls.

  • Frame Properties

    Use the Frame properties pane to add a frame to group controls.

    Use the Edit-box properties pane to specify how an edit box control can let users view and enter values stored in the vault database.

  • Button Properties

    Use the Button properties pane to add a command button that launches an application, add-in, or Web page.

  • Radio-button Properties

    Use the Radio-button properties pane to configure a radio button that allows users to select a predefined value to store in the data card variable.

  • Combobox Properties

    Use the Combobox properties pane to allow users to select from predefined values in a list or enter their own value in the edit field.

  • Droplist Properties

    Use the Droplist properties pane to add a control that requires users to select from a predefined list of values.

  • Combolist Properties

    Use the Combolist properties pane to add an edit box control that lets users select from a permanently visible list of predefined values.

  • Listbox Properties

    Use the Listbox properties pane to add a control lets users select from a predefined list of values.

  • Tab Properties

    Use the Tab properties pane to add visible or hidden tabs to divide data card sections into multiple tabbed pages, each with their own controls.

  • Checkbox Properties

    Use the Checkbox properties pane to configure check boxes you add to a data card.

  • Date Field Properties

    Use the Date field properties pane to configure a control that lets a user select a date from a calendar.

  • Card Search Control

    Search cards can include a card search control that lets users create searches based on content in data cards.

  • Variable Search Control

    Search cards can include a variable search control that lets users create searches based on values stored in variables.

  • Grid Settings Dialog Box

    Use the Grid Settings dialog box to help align data card controls.

  • Controlled by Variable Dialog Box

    Use the Controlled by Variable dialog box to make the available list values in a data card control depend on the value selected in another list or edit box.
