Login Access

As an administrator, you set up login accounts that control access to files and functions. You can apply default login settings to all vaults on the server or customize them for individual file vaults. You also set up the login account that the SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM client uses when it communicates with the SQL server.

Admin User

The Admin User is the first user assigned to a new file vault. The Admin User has special privileges and can perform tasks that other users cannot, such as deleting files checked out to someone else.

User Logins

  • Enterprise PDM login: User names and passwords are stored on the archive server. Passwords are managed by the users or by the administrator.
  • Windows login: PDM Enterprise can use Windows local or domain account user names and passwords. With Windows Automatic login, users are logged in automatically without being prompted for their credentials.
  • Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) login: LDAP logins are used primarily for Novell NDS servers and Novell eDirectory but can also be used to retrieve users from any LDAP type server.

SQL Login

The Enterprise PDM file vault database is hosted on a SQL server. The Enterprise PDM client establishes the connection to the SQL database using an SQL login account.
