Specifying the Mate Location

SOLIDWORKS Motion studies use mate location points to determine how parts move in relation to each other. You can modify the mate location to override the default location.

To modify the mate location:

  1. Create or edit a mate.
  2. From the Analysis tab of the Mate PropertyManager, select Mate location select_edge_faces_vertex.png and select a point on the model for the mate location.

Note the mate location is always a point. If you select another type of entity such as a face for the mate location, the mate location is at the center of the selected entity.

  3. Click .
