Preparing to Restore Files

Typically, cold stored files are saved on backup tapes or other media. To access the files, the storage media must be made available.

The Get From Cold Storage dialog box lists cold storage information that includes the media name and archive server restore path. You can prepare to restore files by providing the information to your administrator with a request to mount the media.

To access cold storage information:

  1. Select the file to restore and click Actions > Get Version > Versions in Cold Storage .
  2. Select the cold stored version to retrieve.
  3. In the Get from Cold Storage dialog box, under Cold storage information, select the information, right-click, and click Copy.
  4. Paste the information into an email and send it to your administrator with a request to mount the media.
  5. Click Cancel.
  6. When you are notified that the media has been mounted, perform one of the restore procedures: Restoring a Single File or Restoring Files from Cold Storage.
