Performance Evaluation - Display Speed

Performance Evaluation reports if the display speed is too slow during dynamic view operations (zoom, pan, rotate, and so on).

To improve display speed you can:

  • Use Large Assembly Mode, which is a collection of system settings that improves the performance of assemblies. Many of the settings are related to display performance, so even if the assembly does not have a large number of components, display speed can improve significantly in Large Assembly Mode.
    Click Turn on Large Assembly Mode in Performance Evaluation.
  • On the View toolbar, turn off:
    • Shadows in Shaded Mode
    • RealView Graphics
  • Minimize the use of textures. A texture is applied by mapping, a process where a two-dimensional image is wrapped onto the faces of the model. As the complexity of the model geometry and number of faces increase, applying textures can slow the performance. Ways to minimize the use of textures include:
    • Do not apply textures until you need them.
    • Create a derived configuration of the current model and apply textures to that derived configuration. Edit your model using the configuration without the textures. When you need to display the model with the textures, switch to the derived configuration.
