Moving Virtual Components

You can move virtual components within the hierarchy of the FeatureManager design tree. Existing references are ignored and the component is renamed.

1. In the FeatureManager design tree:
   1. Expand the subassembly containing the virtual component.
   2. Drag the component you want to move.
   As you move over other components, the pointer changes to indicate what will happen if you drop the component there.

   When you drag over a part:

   Pointer	Action
   	Places the component just below the part, in the same level of the assembly as that part.

   When you drag over a subassembly:

   Pointer	Action
   	(Hover over the name of the subassembly.) Places the component inside the subassembly, in the same level as that subassembly's other components.
   	(Hover over the icon of the subassembly.) Places the component just below the subassembly, in the same level of the assembly as that subassembly.

   The software warns you that if you move a virtual component to another assembly, the component will be renamed and links to the original component will be broken.

   You can suppress the message by selecting Don't ask me again if you know that you will always choose the default response. To restore a suppressed message, click Tools > Options > System Options > Messages/Errors/Warnings , and under Dismissed messages, select the message you want to restore.
2. Click OK.
   The Assembly Structure Editing dialog box appears. It informs you that the component's InPlace mate will be deleted and its in-context sketch will go out of context.
3. Click Move.
   The component is renamed to reflect that it is now a component of a different assembly.
