Confirm Delete

The Confirm Delete dialog box provides you with basic and advanced options to remove one or more selected items.

When the Confirm Delete dialog box is in Basic mode, you can select all absorbed features and all child features for deletion. When the dialog box is in Advanced mode, you can select individual absorbed and child features for deletion and allow others to remain.

In an assembly document, when you delete a component, you can select which mates to delete. You can delete assembly features, but keep the propagated features in selected child parts.

To delete an item that has dependent features or mates:

  1. The Confirm Delete dialog box lists Dependent Items that will be deleted with the selected one. When the dialog box is in Basic mode, select one of the following options:
    Option Description
Delete absorbed features Deletes features that were used to create the item to be deleted listed in And All Dependent Items.
Delete child features Deletes features dependent on a previously built feature listed in And All Dependent Items.
Don't show again Suppresses the message.
  2. To selectively remove absorbed and child features and mates, click Advanced.
  3. Click Delete absorbed features to delete all absorbed features dependent on the parent feature, or clear and select the absorbed features to delete them selectively.
  4. Click Delete child features to delete all child features and mates dependent on the parent feature, or clear and select the child features to delete them selectively.
  5. Click Yes to delete the selected feature or Basic to return to the initial dialog box.

If there are dangling features, a message warns about the problem and prompts you to ignore the error or stop and repair the error before the software rebuilds the subsequent features.

  6. Click Continue (Ignore Error) or Stop and Repair.
  7. Click Close.
If errors are present, you must manually resolve any errors.
