Globally Replacing Failed Mate References

If a mate reference is missing from a component that is used in many places in an assembly, you can replace the missing reference for all instances at the same time.

When you replace the mate reference for one of the many affected mates, a dialog box offers the option to replace it in all other mates with the same missing reference.

For this example, suppose you have an assembly that contains two instances of a knob.

The same cylindrical surface on each knob is used in a concentric mate to a block.

Then suppose that a colleague changes the knob and adds a revolved spline feature to replace the cylindrical surface used in the concentric mates.

Now when you open the assembly, the What's Wrong dialog box informs you that two mates (one for each instance of the knob) are missing a mate entity. The mates are flagged in the FeatureManager design tree.

To globally replace failed mate references:

1. In the FeatureManager design tree, expand Mates .
2. Select the first failed mate and click Replace Mate Entities .
3. In the PropertyManager:
   1. Under Mate Entities, select one of the missing mate entities.
   2. For Replacement Mate Entity , in the graphics area, select another cylindrical feature of the knob.
      
   3. In the PropertyManager, click .
4. In the dialog box, click Yes, replace all other missing mate references.
   The missing mate reference is replaced in both mates and the error flags disappear from the FeatureManager design tree.
