Auto Dimensioning

You can use the AutoDimension command to automatically create baseline, continued, and ordinate dimensions for specified entries that are enclosed within a Dimension Bounding Box.

The Auto Dimension palette lets you control the dimension type, location, and origin. You can also add and remove entities from the selected entities to dimension automatically.

The command creates radial dimensions for specified arcs, and diameter dimensions for specified circles. For ellipses, only the center point is dimensioned.

See Examples of Auto Dimensioning.

You can specify default offset distances for dimensions. See Setting Offsets for Baseline and Continued Dimensions.

At least one Dimension Bounding Box must exist in the drawing. Use the DimensionBoundingBox command to enclose geometry in Dimension Bounding Boxes. To enable Dimension Bounding Boxes, see Working with Dimension Bounding Boxes.
