You can select options for In the context
of to allow creation of external references in a top-level assembly or a
subassembly. You can select options for Reference Component
Type to limit external references to any component or only envelope
components.
When you edit a part in the context of an assembly, the part turns blue and the
assembly in which the external reference is created turns purple in the
FeatureManager design tree.
To set external references options:
- Click .
- Under Assemblies,
specify:
Allow creation of references external to the

Permits the creation of
external references. This option is renamed from
Do not create references
external to the model.
