Assigning Materials to Domains

You assign materials to cavity, insert, mold, and cooling channel domains.

Assigning Material to a Cavity

To assign material to the cavity domain:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the PlasticsManager , expand Material and double-click Polymer .
    • In the Plastics CommandManager, click Polymer .
  2. In the Polymer dialog box:
    1. Set Domain to Cavity.
    2. From the Set Co-Injection menu, select the required injection process.
    3. Click Default Database or User-defined Database, and select a material from the list under the Plastics Database tab (left-hand side of the dialog box)
    4. Click OK.

Assigning Material to an Insert

To assign material to the insert domain:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the PlasticsManager , expand Material and double-click Insert.
    • In the Plastics CommandManager, click Polymer > Insert .
  2. Select Polymer or Metal.
  3. In the Insert dialog box:
    1. Set Domain to Insert.
    2. Click Default Database or User-defined Database, and select a material from the list under the Plastics Database or Mold Database tabs.
    3. Click OK.

Assigning Material to a Cooling Channel

To assign material to the cooling channel domain:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the PlasticsManager , expand Material and double-click Coolant .
    • In the Plastics CommandManager, click Coolant i
  2. In the Coolant dialog box:
    1. Set Domain to Cooling Channel.
    2. Click Default Database or User-defined Database, and select a material from the list under the Coolant Database tab.
    3. Click OK.

Assigning Material to a Mold

To assign material to the mold domain:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the PlasticsManager , expand Material and double-click Mold .
    • In the Plastics CommandManager, click Mold .
  2. In the Mold dialog box:
    1. Set Domain to Mold.
    2. Click Default Database or User-defined Database, and select a material from the list under the Mold Database tab.
    3. Click OK.
