Routing Component Wizard - Routing Functionality Points Section

You can use this section to view existing Connection Points (CPoints) and Route Points (RPoints) on the component and to determine if you need to add any points.

To display this section, do one of the following:
  • Click Tools > Routing > Routing Tools > Routing Library Manager, and click Routing Component Wizard .
  • From the Windows Start menu, click All Programs > SOLIDWORKS version > SOLIDWORKS Tools > SOLIDWORKS version Routing Library Manager > Routing Component Wizard .

Required and Optional Points

You must add required points.

Add Lets you add CPoints or RPoints to the component or ACPoint and ARPoint to the assembly.
Edit Lets you edit the geometry of CPoints, ACPoints, RPoints, or ARPoints.
Delete Lets you delete CPoints, RPoints, ACPoints, or ARPoints.

Point Type

Displays the type of required points.

Note the following about the point types:

  • CPoint: A connection point (CPoint) is a point in a fitting (flange, elbow, electrical connector) where a routing segment (pipe, tube, wire, cable, or HVAC duct) begins or ends. You can only generate a routing segment when at least one end is attached to a connection point. Each fitting part must contain a connection point for each port, positioned where you want the adjoining pipe, tube, cable, or HVAC duct to begin or end.
  • ACPoint: An assembly connection point (ACPoint) is a point where a route can be joined to an assembly. It serves the same function for an assembly that a connection point does for a fitting.
  • RPoint: A route point (RPoint) is a point in a fitting (such as a flange, elbow, or electrical connector) that you use to position the fitting at an intersection or endpoint in the route sketch. In the case of clips, route points help define the path of flexible routes.
  • ARPoint: An assembly route point (ARPoint) is a point that positions an assembly on or at the end of a route. It serves the same function for an assembly that a route point does for a fitting. For example, a filter assembly can have an assembly route point to show how it fits along a segment of pipe.

Number of Points

Displays the number of connection points present or required in the component.

CPoint Configuration

Add all CPoints Generates stubs from all CPoints when you place the part in a route.
Do not connect CPoint Does not generate stubs from any CPoints when you place the part in a route.
Select CPoints Lets you indicate which CPoints generate stubs when you place the part in a route.
