Routing Component Wizard - Route and Component Types Section

You can use the Route and Component Types section to define the route and component type.

To display this section, do one of the following:
  • Click Tools > Routing > Routing Tools > Routing Library Manager, and click Routing Component Wizard .
  • From the Windows Start menu, click All Programs > SOLIDWORKS version > SOLIDWORKS Tools > SOLIDWORKS version Routing Library Manager > Routing Component Wizard .

Route Type

Defines the route type.

Electrical Creates different types of components such as assembly connectors, connectors, ribbon cables, conduits, cable trays, or ducts that you can use in creating electrical systems that have wires, cables, and harnesses.
Miscellaneous Creates equipment that does not go in routes (such as tanks or pumps) or hybrid components that fall into more than one category (such as electrically powered valves).
Piping Creates different types of components such as flanges, tees, elbows, pipes, and valves. You use components like these to design piping systems such as water treatment plants, chemical processing plants, and breweries.
Tubing Creates different types of components such as adapters, tees, crosses, tubes, and valves. You use components like these to design tubing systems such as hydraulic systems and cooling units.
User Defined Equipment to create air conditioning, other mechanical styles of ducting and route subassemblies for space planning type.

Component Type

Component type Creates a component based on the selected route. You can also define a subtype if the Component type has subtypes. For example, if the Component type is Valves, you can select a subtype such as Gate Valve.
Route Type Name Specify the name of the route connected with the defined component.
Cross Section Define the connected route of the component as Rectangular or Circular.
The Cross Section and Route Type Name options appear only when you select User Defined as the route type.
