Sketch Point for a Connection Point

A sketch point is required to locate the connection point.

  • If the route segment (pipe or tube) extends into the fitting, the connection point must be at the correct depth inside the fitting.
  • If the route segment is welded to the end face of the fitting, the connection point must be coincident with the end face of the fitting.

If there is already a sketch of a circle in the correct location, you can use the center point of that circle. For example, if a circular feature is extruded from the face where the routing segment ends, you can use the center point of the sketched circle.

To create a connection point on a cylindrical feature, select the flat face of the feature. You do not need to create a sketch point first.

Otherwise, open a sketch, and add a Point Tool_Point_Sketch.gif. Add dimensions and relations as needed to ensure that the point is concentric with the cylindrical face of the part and positioned at the correct depth.

One sketch can contain the sketch points for multiple connection points.
