Importing Motion Studies into SOLIDWORKS Visualize Connected

To import motion studies into SOLIDWORKS Visualize Connected, first you embed the motion study data in the SOLIDWORKS Connected part or assembly. Then when you import the part or assembly into SOLIDWORKS Visualize Connected, the motion studies are included.

Before you begin:

  1. In the SOLIDWORKS Connected part or assembly, for the motion studies you want to import into Visualize Connected, select Access Motion Study (MotionManager toolbar).

Access Motion Study marks the selected motion studies to be saved when you save the part or assembly.

Saving motion studies increases the file size and results in a longer save time.
  2. Save the part or assembly.

The part or assembly, including the marked motion studies, is saved.

To import the part or assembly and a marked motion study into a Visualize Connected project:

  1. In Visualize Connected, do one of the following:
    • To import into a new project, click File > Open.
    • To import into an existing project, open the project and click File > Import.
  2. Browse to the part or assembly and click Open.
  3. In the Import Settings dialog box, select Animations.
The Animation Selection dialog box lists all animations and motion studies found in the part or assembly you are importing.
  4. Select one motion study to import and click OK, or click Cancel to skip animation import.
If the part or assembly contains only one motion study or animation, the single item is selected automatically. The dialog box does not appear.
  5. Specify other import options if required.
  6. Click OK.
The part or assembly, including the motion study, is added to the project.
