Editing Revision Tables

To modify revisions in sheets that reference the active revision table, you need to edit the active revision table. You can also edit an independent revision table you insert on the Model tab.

The steps for editing a revision table on the Model tab and the active revision table on a sheet tab are the same.

To initiate revision table editing:

  1. Click Edit Revision Table (Mechanical Toolbox toolbar) or Mechanical Toolbox > Revision Table > Edit Revision Table.
  2. If you are on a sheet tab that contains a revision table that is linked to the active revision table, when you are prompted to activate Sheet 1, click OK.

The Command window lists these options:

Edit revision Lets you edit a revision table row.

If you change the revision number, all symbols with that number are updated.

Delete revision Prompts you to select a revision table row for deletion.

All symbols that reference the deleted row are also deleted.

delete revision Table Deletes the entire revision table and all revision symbols.
Recreate revision table Reformats the revision table to align the text in all revision rows.
reIndex revision table Reorders revision numbers to their original numeric sequence if they are out of sequence.
  3. In the Command window, at the Specify option prompt, type the shortcut for an editing option and press Enter.
  4. Press ESC to exit the Edit Table command.

Editing a Revision

  1. In the Command window, at the Specify option prompt, type E and press Enter.
  2. Click the revision row to edit.
  3. In the Toolbox - Add Revision dialog box, modify one or more fields and click OK.
If you modify the value of the REVISION field, the software updates the value for all revision symbols that are based on the revision. If you edit the active revision table on a sheet, the update includes any symbols on sheets that reference the active revision table.

Deleting a Revision

  1. In the Command window, at the Specify option prompt, type D and press Enter.
  2. Click the revision row to delete.
    The row is deleted.

The software deletes all revision symbols that are based on the deleted row. If you edit the active revision table on a sheet, the deletion includes any symbols on sheets that reference the active revision table.

Deleting the Revision Table

In the Command window, at the Specify option prompt, type T and press Enter.
The revision table and all symbols are removed from the sheet or Model tab.

If you delete the active revision table on a sheet, the software removes all symbols and revision tables on sheets that reference the active revision table.

Recreating the Revision Table

Information you specify when you create or edit a revision may exceed the width of existing revision table cells. This creates a row with columns that do not align with other rows. To reformat the table so that all columns are aligned, use the Recreate revision table option.

You can also recreate a revision table if you edit a revision row and remove text.

In the Command window, at the Specify option prompt, type R and press Enter.
The revision table is reformatted with all columns aligned.

Re-indexing the Revision Table

Re-indexing a revision table restores the automatic sequencing of revision values.

When you create the first row of a revision table, the revision value is 1. Each time you add a revision row, the value is automatically incremented by 1. However, if you manually specify a revision value or delete a revision row, the resulting revision values are out of sequence.

To re-index a revision table with revision values that are out of sequence:

In the Command window, at the Specify option prompt, type I and press Enter.
The revision table is re-indexed with the first revision value set to 1.

The software updates the values for all revision symbols. If you edit the active revision table on a sheet, the update includes any symbols on sheets that reference the active revision table.
