Snap Grid Settings

The snap grid is an invisible grid in the graphics area.

With snap activated, the pointer selects only points positioned directly on the snap grid. When you point to the drawing, start points, end points, center points, and other specific points lie exactly on points of the snap grid. The snap grid follows the axes of the current coordinate system (CCS).

You can apply the settings as current snap grid settings or for Mechanical Snap Configurations.

To set snap grid settings:

  1. In the Settings dialog box, select Snaps.
  2. Select the Snap Grid tab.
  3. Select Enable Snap to enable or disable snaps.
  4. Under Type, specify:
    Option Description
Standard (snaps to grid) Snaps the pointer to points at specified horizontal and vertical spacings.
Radial (RSnap) Snaps the pointer to points along a radial vector. Polar guides must be on.
  5. Under Spacing, specify:
    Option Description
Horizontal Snap spacing Specifies the horizontal spacing of the snap grid.
Vertical Snap spacing Specifies the vertical spacing of the snap grid.
Match horizontal spacing Transfers the value for horizontal spacing to the value for vertical spacing, so the grid display is evenly spaced in the X and Y directions.
RSnap spacing Specifies the spacing when using the RadialSnap type.
  6. Under Angle, specify:
    Option Description
Snap angle Specifies the snap rotation angle for the current viewport relative to the current CCS
  7. Click Apply.
