The task infrastructure provides multiple ways to initiate tasks.
As an administrator, you can:
- Trigger tasks using a workflow
transition.
For example, you can automatically generate .pdf files
when SOLIDWORKS files reach a state such as release.
As part of task
setup, specify options for the newly created files such as file names, properties, and
destination folders.
- Use the Task List dialog box to execute an on-demand
task
- Configure tasks so that they can be initiated by
users.
With
SOLIDWORKS PDM
File Explorer, users with permissions to perform tasks can select files
and use shortcut menu options to convert or print them.
- Schedule task execution
If you create custom tasks using
the API, you can include the task scheduling infrastructure so that tasks can be performed
when task hosts are available.
