Export DWG files

All drawings created in SOLIDWORKS Electrical are stored in the EWG format. They can be exported to a range of DWG/DXF versions, allowing you to share data with other companies.

EWG names are automatically generated by SOLIDWORKS Electrical and do not relate to the names of the electrical project drawings. Never rename the EWG files within the project directory. This will cause the SOLIDWORKS Electrical file integrity to be lost.

Menu: Import/Export > Export DWG files

An option dialog box opens asking you if you want to update the report and terminal strip drawings (according to the electrical project configuration settings).

Update drawings: The report, design rule, and terminal strip drawings are updated before running the command.

Continue action without updating: The report, design rule, and terminal strip drawings are not updated and the command runs.

Cancel: The command stops and drawings are not updated.

A dialog box opens, letting you select a directory for the DWG files.

The drawings are exported in a tree structure that reflects the way the electrical project is structured, just as they are shown in the dockable panel.

Folders and files

Base folder path: Lets you select the folder (directory) in which the drawings will be exported.

Formula for folder name: Allows you to format the name of the main folder (directory) with the Formula management.

Formula for file name: Allows you to format the name of the generated files with the Formula management.

Open folder after exporting: When this option is selected, the file explorer opens in the defined base folder (directory) at the end of the export process.

Export all drawings to a single file: Groups all drawings selected for export into one file. Each drawing is placed in a presentation mode (Paper space).

Select the format of the generated files (DXF or DWG) and the file version.

Select the drawings to export. The [...] button opens the drawing selector and the All option selects all drawings of the electrical project.
