Cycling Through Overlapping Entities During Selection

Cycling selection lets you selectively specify entities that are close to or on top of other entities.

You can preselect entities with this method or use them when you are prompted to specify entities in the graphics area.

To identify entities that are close together but do not overlap exactly, it can be useful to zoom near the entities.

To cycle through overlapping entities during selection:

  1. Cycle through overlapping entities during selection using the list of detected entities.
    1. On the status bar, right-click Cycling Selection and click On.
    2. Hover over entities that are close to each other or overlap.
The stack icon appears near the entities if more than one entity passes through the selection box. Press Ctrl to hide the icon.
    3. Click the icon.
A list of entities that overlap appears. The last created entity is the first in the list. In front of the entity names, the entity color is displayed, which distinguishes the entities.

When you hover over the list, the highlighted entity highlights in the drawing.

    4. In the list, click the highlighted entity.
    5. Apply a modification command on the selected entity or modify with entity grips.
    6. Repeat steps b to e to specify multiple entities that are close to each other or overlap.
  2. Cycle through overlapping entities during selection without using the list of detected entities.
    1. On the status bar, right-click Cycling Selection and click Off.
    2. Hover over entities that are close to each other or overlap.
The stack icon appears near the entities if more than one entity passes through the selection box.
You can cycle through overlapping entities by pressing Shift + Spacebar.
    3. In the list, click the highlighted entity.
    4. Apply a modification command on the selected entity or modify it with entity grips.
    5. Repeat steps b to d to specify multiple entities that are close to each other or overlap.
