Installing the Design with DraftSight Add-In

Prerequisites:
  • 3DEXPERIENCE credentials.
  • A web browser.
  • A full product installation of DraftSight 2021 SP0 for Windows or later.

To install the Design with DraftSight add-in:

  1. Before you begin, exit DraftSight.
  2. Log in to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  3. At the top bar of the 3DDashboard, click the Compass .
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Under ME > My Roles, click Collaborative Designer for DraftSight > DraftSight.
    • Under ME > My Apps, click DraftSight.

  5. Follow the prompts to download and install the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher and the Design with DraftSight add-in.
  6. To use the add-in for the first time:
    1. Return to the 3DDashboard in your browser.
    2. Under ME, click Compass > My Apps > DraftSight.

    3. Enter your 3DEXPERIENCE credentials.
    4. In the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform dialog box, specify the Collaborative Space, Organization, and Access Role, and click OK.

      When you start the add-in from the Task Pane, in the 3DEPXERIENCES PLM Services tab, click Connect.

To uninstall Design with DraftSight in Windows, click Apps & features > Dassault Systèmes xCAD Connectors 3DEXPERIENCE > Uninstall. See Uninstalling Design with SOLIDWORKS in Dassault Systèmes User Assistance. These steps also apply to the Design with DraftSight add-in.

DraftSight 2023 SP0 is not compatible with 3DEXPERIENCE 2023x Hotfix 1 and higher.

The installer for the Design with DraftSight add-in downloads a non-Java-based PLM Collaborative Services (PLMCSA) client, which enables the integration between the add-in and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This client replaces the Java-based Integration Exchange Framework client (IEF).
