Saving as New to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

You can save a copy of existing files with new names to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

To save as new to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In SOLIDWORKS, click File > Save As New, or from the Quick Access tools on the menu bar, click Save As New .
    • On the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, in MySession, right-click a component and click Save As New . You can also select Save As New in the action bar.
  2. In the Save As New dialog box:
    1. Under Title, enter a new name for the file.
    2. To include drawings of components as new, click Show References. In the Action column, specify Save As New for the required components, enter a New Title, and select Include Drawings.
The dialog box table updates to include drawing files for the selected components. Under Action, specify to exclude the drawings or save them as new.
Next to Include Drawings, you can click to update the grid after you specify the Action for each drawing.
    3. To save the model to your local PC, click Save to This PC.
If Autoname is enabled, the default file name is the autoname whether you save to your PC or to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
    4. For assemblies or drawings, click Show References to show details about referenced components.

In the Save As New dialog box, you can change the autonamed title to be more meaningful. If autonaming is enabled, the file name retains the original autogenerated name.
