Extracting Geometric Dimensions & Tolerances

You can extract geometric dimensions & tolerances (GDT) manually and use the GDT builder to designate additional information.

To extract GDT:

  1. In a drawing, click Manual Extract > Geometric Tolerances (Document ribbon).
  2. In the graphics area, box-select a GDT.

    A balloon appears next to the extracted annotation and the image appears at the top of the Characteristic tab in the Properties/Preferences PropertyManager. The software attempts to fill the correct values in the Characteristic tab.
  3. Optional: (PDF files only.) If the software does not recognize all of the values in the annotation correctly, you can use the selective recapture tools to create the correct values or enter them manually:
    1. At the top of the Characteristic tab, box-select a value.

    2. Click one of the following based on the value you box-selected:
      • Crop image to selected region
      • Recapture currently selected characteristic
  4. Optional: On the Characteristic tab, under General:
    1. Use the GDT Builder to enter content for the feature control frame.

    2. Enter values for the remaining data in the annotation.
  5. Optional: In the Properties/Preferences PropertyManager, under Inspection, Ballooning, and Custom, enter values for the remaining data in the annotation.
