SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic - Exercise 11

In this exercise, you learn how to manage revisions, print, and archive the electrical project.

This exercise is based on the electrical project you created in SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic - Exercise 10. If you did not complete it, you can download this electrical project file and unarchive it in SOLIDWORKS Electrical.

Managing Revisions

After updating the drawing list report, add revision A to all the drawings.
  1. In the Report Manager, click Generate drawings to update the Drawing list reports.
  2. Click Electrical project > Configurations > Project > General > Revision numbering to modify the configuration settings.
  3. Specify 0AB for Revision numbering.
  4. Right-click a book and select Revisions .
  5. In the Revision index management dialog box, enter a description for index 0.
  6. Click Validate, then click Verify.

    SOLIDWORKS Electrical asks if you want to increment all the drawings in the book to this index.

  7. Click OK.

    Cancel the other operations proposed by SOLIDWORKS Electrical.

  8. Repeat this operation to increment to index A.

Printing

Generate a PDF file containing all the electrical project drawings. You can generate the PDF file with either of these tools:
  • Print
  • Export PDF files
  1. Click Import/Export > Export PDF files .
  2. Browse to the location to save the PDF file.
  3. Keep the default parameters.
  4. Click Print to generate the PDF file.

Archiving the Project

  1. In the Project manager, select the electrical projects from the list and click Close.

    You must close the drawings and electrical project to archive them.

  2. Click Archive .
  3. Click Update drawings to update all the project drawings.
  4. In the Save As dialog box, modify the name of the file and browse to the location to archive it.
