Working with Components This sections explains the different aspects of components. Contents Components A component represents an electrical device, a PLC, a connector, or a terminal. It is represented by one or several symbols and has a mark. A component can be present in your electrical project without having a graphical representation. No symbol needs to be inserted into the drawings. Circuit Management The circuits in a component correspond to the device poles. These circuits are used in the symbol definition, and also in the manufacturer part definition. Cross references are generated, and terminals are shown by comparing the circuits of the symbol and the circuits of the manufacturer part. Component Properties This topic lists the properties of the component. The dialog automatically opens during the creation of a new location. Assigning Components You can associate several symbols to assign them to a component. Searching Components You can find a component in the list of components for the electrical project by using filters. Adding Circuits to a Component With the Add Circuits feature you can add new circuits to a component. Modifying Terminal Numbers You can update the terminal numbers using the Edit Terminals or Edit Symbol Terminal commands. Selecting Components You can select the components from the Component selector dialog box. The Component selector groups all electrical project components. Parent topicSOLIDWORKS Electrical
