Using Attribute Tools

This topic explains the tool options for managing attributes.

Show Attributes

Do one of the following:
  • Click Edit symbol > Show attributes .
  • Click Edit title block > Show attributes .

To simplify attribute management (such as position or text size), the attributes display the different styles in the graphic area. Only the graphic aspect changes, not the name.

Option Description
Show attributes Displays the attribute name or lets you show the attributes if hidden.
Show sample values Replaces the attribute by an example of the value that it can receive. In this mode, you cannot edit the attribute properties.
Show attribute description Replaces the attribute by its description. In this mode, you cannot edit the attribute properties.
Hide attributes Hides the attributes.

Manually Modifying Attributes

Several attributes available in SOLIDWORKS Electrical use specific characters that indicate the language, the index, or the data index.

Option Description
AIO in #AIO_0_TZ_1_L1 The attribute type (in this example, Input/Output).
0 in #AIO_0_TZ_1_L The order number in the attribute type (in this example, the first I/O).
TZ_1 in #AIO_0_TZ_1_L1 The translatable user data 1 associated with the previous value (in this example, the first translatable data of the first I/O).
L1 in #AIO_0_TZ_1_L1 The language of the previous value (in this example, the language of the first translatable data of the first I/O).
Index The index character is an order number in the attribute type defined by the previous code: "0" is the first, "1" is the second.
Data index The data index character follows the code that identifies the data type: TX is User data and TZ is Translatable user data. The "0" propagates the value of the first User data (or translatable user data), "1 is the value of the second User data (or translatable user data).
Language The L1 propagates the main language used for text in the electrical project, L2 is the second language. Change the language by replacing the language code characters (EN - FR - ES). For example, use EN to have English displayed as the language in the electrical project.
Option Description
Modify index Lets you change the order number of the attribute type. In the dialog box, introduce the new index.
Modify TX/TZ data index Lets you change the user data number or translatable data. In the dialog box, introduce the new data index.
Modify language code Lets you change the language of the user data or translatable data. From the list, select the language used in the electrical project, or another language even if it is not in the electrical project configuration.
Modify revision index Lets you change the index code of a revision. In the dialog box, enter the new revision index (only available on the title blocks).
