Creating Attributes

You can create an attribute. Attributes let you define a different text item at each block insertion. In SOLIDWORKS Electrical, the attributes are used to propagate electrical project data in the graphical objects.

  1. Click Draw > Attribute .
  2. In the Create attribute definition dialog box, specify the following options:
    Option Description
    Attribute
    • Name. The attribute name, which must be unique in a block definition.
    • Prompt. Displays the prompt message when you insert the block containing the attribute.
    • Value. Contains the default value of the attribute.
    Mode
    • Hidden. Hides the attribute value when you insert the block.
    • Fixed. Applies a fixed value in the attribute when you insert the block.
    • Validate. Validates the value when you insert the block.
    • Predefined. Restores the default value when you insert the block.
    Text option
    • Justify. Specifies the attribute justification.
    • Text style. Specifies the text style. Text style management lets you access the text style definition.
    • Rotation. Specifies the rotation angle. Select Specify later to set the rotation angle when you insert the attribute in the graphical area.
    • Height. Specifies the attribute height. Select Specify later to set the attribute height when you insert the attribute in the graphical area.
    • Inclined angle. Specifies the angle value (in degrees) for oblique text.
    • Width factor. Lets you enlarge the text without changing its height.
    • Upside down. Inserts the attribute with a vertical mirror.
    • Backward. Inserts the attribute with a horizontal mirror.
    Insertion point Specifies the attribute coordinates. Select Specify later to set the insertion point when you insert the attribute in the graphical area.
  3. Click OK.
