Configuring Drawing Style Properties

Drawing style configuration lets you define styles for the drawings in an electrical project. For example, you can specify layer definitions, line types, and text styles.

The parameters are stored in an editable configuration file (For more information, see Managing Configuration Files). Only one configuration file is associated with the electrical project. You can select it in the General tab of the electrical project configuration. These parameters affect all the drawings of the electrical project, unlike the individual features you can find in the Tools menu, which only affect the current drawing or current DWG file. The parameters are automatically assigned to the drawing when you open it, when you print it, or when you export it to a DWG file.
  1. Click Electrical project > Configurations > Drawing style > Properties.
  2. In the Edit drawing style dialog box, specify the following options.
    Option Description
Layer Defines the layers you want to use in the drawings.
    • Add layer. Creates a new layer. You can change its name in the Name column.
    • Delete selection. Deletes the selected layers. You cannot delete a layer containing entities.
    • Set selected layer as current. Select a layer in the list to assign it as the Current layer. The current layer is the one on which you draw and is identified in the list by a specific icon.
Each layer is associated by default with a Color, a Line type, and a Line weight. Basic entities (nonelectrical) drawn on this layer have these parameters by default. You can select these items by clicking the cell corresponding to the layer. You can hide layers for viewing and printing.
    • Active/Inactive. Entities placed in the layer are hidden and cannot be printed.
    • Freeze/Unfreeze. Graphically, this command is similar to Active/Inactive.
On large files, use Active/Inactive to make the display of all entities faster.
    • Print Defines whether a layer is printed or not (hidden layers are not printed).
Linetypes Lists the available line types you can use in a drawing. You can manage line types with the following options:
    • Load. Opens the list of all line types you can use in a drawing. Line styles are stored in an XLIN file. To select line types, click Open and select the types you want to import in the configuration.
    • Delete selection. Deletes the selected line types. You cannot delete a line type used in a drawing.

Set selection as current. Defines the selected line style as current in the drawing.

Text style Lists the available text styles you can use in the drawing. When you select a new current text style, all commands that add text (except the multilingual texts) to the active document use the defined style. Use the following options to select the current text style of the drawing, or to view, add, edit, or delete text styles from the list of available styles:
    • Add text style. Adds a new text style. A new line is added at the end of the list. You can change its name and parameters.
    • Delete selection. Deletes the selected text style. You cannot delete a text style used in the drawing.
    • Set selected style as current. Defines the selected text style as current in the drawing.
    Leader styles
    • New. Lets you create a new leader style in the opened file. The new leader style is a copy of the selected leader style. The properties dialog box opens so that you can modify the parameters.
    • Rename. Lets you rename the selected leader style. You can also change the name in the leader style properties.
    • Delete. Deletes the selected leader style.
    • Properties. Opens a dialog box so that you can modify the parameter of the selected leader style.
    • Set as current. Defines the selected leader style as current in the file (or scheme).
  3. Click OK.
