Configuration Table Dialog Box

You can use Configuration Table to create and modify configurations for commonly configured parameters, components, and properties in parts and assemblies.

SOLIDWORKS creates this table automatically when a part or assembly has multiple configurations.

To access a configuration table:

  1. Open a part or an assembly that has multiple configurations and click the ConfigurationManager tab.
  2. Expand Tables .
  3. Right-click Configuration Table and click Show Table.
The Configuration Table dialog box lists the configurations of the model in one column and configurable parameters in other columns.
A value highlighted in yellow means that a derived configuration has a value that overrides the parent value.

A column highlighted in a different color means that the column is blocked from editing.

Configuration Name

Lists the configuration of the model. The active configuration appears in bold.

To add new configurations:

  1. Click <Creates a new configuration>. For models updated to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, click <Creates a new physical product>.
  2. Enter a name.
  3. Press Enter.

Right-click a configuration and click an option:

Rename Configuration Changes the name of the selected configuration.
Delete Configuration Deletes the selected configuration from the model.
Add Derived Configuration Adds a derived configuration as a child of the selected configuration.
Switch to Configuration Makes the selected configuration the active one.
Click Rebuild active configuration to update to the configuration you activated.

Available for inactive configurations.

The options are different for models updated to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform:
Rename Physical Product Changes the name of the selected physical product.
Delete Physical Product Deletes the selected physical product from the model.
Add Representation Adds a representation of the selected configuration.
Switch to Physical Product Makes the selected configuration the active one.
Click Rebuild active configuration to update to the configuration you activated.
Rename Representation Changes the name of the selected representation.
Delete Representation Deletes the selected representation from the model.
Switch to Representation Makes the selected representation the active one.

Available for inactive representations.

Sections

The table contains the following sections:
Sketches and Features Feature dimension values and suppression states.
Components Component suppression states and referenced configuration.

Assemblies only.

Custom Properties Configuration-specific custom properties.
Parameters Parameters applied to the configuration.

Configuration Parameters

You can modify the following configuration parameters:

Suppress new features Parts only.
Suppress new features and mates Assemblies only.
Suppress new components
Fix / Float Assemblies only.
Child components in BOM Configures the setting for Child component display when used as a subassembly in the Configuration Properties PropertyManager.

Select Show, Hide, or Promote.

Exclude from BOM on Insert Configures the setting for Set 'Exclude from bill of materials' when inserted into assembly in the Configuration Properties PropertyManager.

Parameters Columns

You can add more columns by double-clicking items in the graphics area or the FeatureManager design tree. Click at the top of a column to select other parameters of a feature to configure.

Linked dimensions are grouped in a column labeled Linked Dimension instead of appearing in columns for individual features. Each linked dimension appears in the list only once, even if it is used in several features.

In the parameter columns, you can click in a cell and:
  • Change numeric values.
  • Select from a list of component configurations or part materials.
  • Change the suppression state of features, sketches, components, and mates.

You can right-click the header of a parameter column and click the following:

Delete Deletes the column from the table.
Rename Highlights the name so you can enter a new name for the parameter. When you click Apply or save the table, the parameter name updates in the model.
Unconfigure Applies the active configuration's value to all configurations and deletes the column from the table.
Block model edits

Prevents updates to the model.

When you block edits, the column displays in a different color. To change this color, click Tools > Options > System Options > Colors. Modify the Dimensions, Controlled by Design Table color setting.

In the graphics area, dimensions that are blocked for editing appear in the same color.

To rearrange the order of columns in the table, select a column header and drag the column.

Tools

Flip rows and columns Transposes the rows and columns in the table.
Rebuild Active Configuration
Rebuild All Configurations Do one of the following:
  • In the ConfigurationManager, right-click the file name and click Rebuild All Configurations.
  • In a file, click Edit > Rebuild All Configurations.
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + B.
Rebuild All Configurations is available only when there are multiple configurations in a file.
Hide/Show Sketches and Features Controls the visibility of columns that contain suppression states, and sketch and feature dimensions.
Hide/Show Components Controls the visibility of columns that contain component configurations, fix/float states, and suppression states.
Hide/Show Custom Properties Controls visibility of the Custom Properties column for configuration-specific custom properties. The Custom Properties column contains subcolumns for configured properties. Click at the top of the column to select other properties to configure. You can create new properties by selecting **New Property from the list.
Hide/Show Configuration Parameters Controls the visibility of columns that contain configuration parameters.
Save table view Applies changes to the model and saves the current view of the table. For new table views, enter a name in the field before saving. Tables are saved in the Tables folder on the ConfigurationManager tab.
