Managing Bridges

SOLIDWORKS Electrical lets you link two or more terminals using bridges or jumpers. You can create bridges manually or automatic.

Create or Delete a Bridge Manually

You can create a bridge manually in the graphical interface by using the contextual menu of the wire you want to manage as a bridge, or in the terminal strip editor, directly on the terminals.
  1. To create or delete a bridge in the graphical interface, right-click a wire and click Create or Delete bridges.

The dockable panel displays options to create or delete a bridge.

  2. In the graphical area, select the wires on which you want to add a bridge. To select several wires, use the Ctrl key.

The selected wires appear in the table of the dockable panel. You can click Delete to remove one of the selected wires.

  3. To create a bridge in the terminal strip editor, select the terminals you want to link in their bridge column.
  4. Click Advanced > Bridges or right-click and click Create bridges.

Create Bridges Automatically

Automatic mode creates a bridge on the terminals, which are connected on the same equipotential.

  1. In the Terminal strip management, in the Bridge creation column, select in the list the mode you want to associate with each terminal strip.
    • Manual. Automatic mode is disabled and you create the bridges manually.
    • Automatic. All the terminals that are connected in the same equipotential are automatically linked.
    • Automatic, only consecutive. Consecutive terminals that are connected in the same equipotential are automatically linked.
You can also select the bridge creation mode in the Terminal strip properties.
When the terminal strips are drawn, SOLIDWORKS Electrical uses configuration parameters. The bridges are represented by a line and points linking two or more terminals.
