Adding a File Shortcut

The File shortcut feature allows you to create a link to a personal file stored outside SOLIDWORKS Electrical. A file shortcut is added to the electrical project and it is displayed as a drawing or a data file in the Pages tab.

You can access Data file shortcuts in the following ways:

To access data file shortcuts, do the following:

Click Electrical project > New > Data file shortcuts.
Right-click a book and click New > Data file shortcuts.
Right-click a folder and click New > Data file shortcuts.

A dialog box of file selection opens that allows you to select the file you want to link with the shortcut. This file can be open with the Windows application associated with the file.
