3DEXPERIENCE users can
open
filtered assemblies from the platform, edit them, and save them
locally or back to the platform.
Benefits: You can open and work on a specific subset of
components from a large assembly without opening the entire
assembly.
Notes:
- Filtered assemblies do not support lightweight or Large Design Review mode. The
filtered assemblies that you open must always be resolved.
- If you open the full assembly model, you cannot open the filtered assembly at
the same time.
To work with partial assemblies:
-
In your 3DEXPERIENCE app, open the
3DEXPERIENCE tab in the task pane.
-
In the Compass, under My
Apps, start Product Structure
Explorer and do as follows:
-
Under Access your
work, click Open
Content and browse to
an
assembly that has filters applied to it.
You or others can apply filters to an assembly.
- To open the filtered assembly, drag it into the graphics
area
or right-click it and click
Open.
The selected filtered assembly opens in SOLIDWORKS. In the
FeatureManager design tree, at the top node, this icon

indicates a filtered assembly. Filtered-out
components do not appear in the FeatureManager design tree but the software
retains these components in the product structure for subsequent
filtering.
A notification alerts you that this is a filtered assembly.

- Modify the filtered assembly as required. Most commands are permitted except for the
following blocked items:
- New assembly features, such as cuts or fillets
- Design tables
- You cannot modify the top-level configuration of the assembly.
- You cannot add a CAD Family to the ConfigurationManager.
- Save the filtered assembly locally or back to the platform.
