Applying Loads Along Beams

To apply the distributed load along the length of a beam:

  1. Right-click the External Loads folder and select Force .
  2. In the PropertyManager, under Selection:
    1. Click Beams and select Extrude2 in the graphics area.
      You can only apply distributed loads to the full length of a beam. The extruded bodies were created as separate bodies to make the segment of the beam carrying distributed loads its own beam.
    2. Select Front Plane from the flyout FeatureManager design tree for Face, Edge, Plane for Direction .
  3. Under Units, select English (IPS) and select Per unit length.
  4. Under Force:
    1. Click Along Plane Dir 2 .
    2. Type 4.1667 lbf/in.
    3. Select Reverse direction.
  5. Click .
