Assigning Material Properties

From the material library, assign Acrylic (medium-high impact) under the Plastics category to the holder component.

To define the hyperelastic material of the pipe:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the pipe icon in the Parts part.png folder and select Apply/Edit Material.
  2. In the Material dialog box:
    1. Right-click the Custom Materials folder and select New Category.
    2. Right-click the newly defined category and select New Material.
  3. In the Material dialog box, on the Properties tab, do the following:
    1. Set Model Type to Hyperelastic - Mooney Rivlin.
    2. Set Units to English (IPS).
    3. Type a Name for the material, for example, Rubber like material.
  4. In the material properties table, enter the following material properties:
    1. For Poisson's Ratio type 0.4995.
    2. For First Material Constant type 140.154.
    3. For Second Material Constant type 84.666.
    4. Enter a value for Mass Density, say, 0.04.
The value of mass density does not affect the results for this problem but it is a required physical property.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click Close.
