The modulus of elasticity of the sheet is 12,000 psi and its Poisson’s ratio is 0.0. You input these properties manually.
To assign material properties:
-
In the Simulation study tree, right-click the shell icon
and select Apply/Edit Material.
-
In the Material dialog box, right-click the Custom Materials folder and select New Category.
Type a name for the material category.
-
Right-click the newly defined category and select New Material.
Type a name for the new material.
-
In the Material dialog
box, on the Properties tab, do the following:
-
Make sure that Model
Type is set to Linear Elastic
Isotropic.
-
Set Units to
English (IPS).
-
In the Name box,
type a name for the material, for example, Material 2.
-
In the material properties table, do the following:
- Type 12000 in the Value cell for Elastic Modulus.
- Type 0.0 in the Value box for Poisson's Ratio.
- Enter a value like 0.04 for Mass Density.
The value of mass density does not affect the results for this problem but it is a required physical property.
