Applying Surface to Ambient Radiation The shield radiates heat to the room (ambient). Black body radiation is assumed (Emissivity = 1). To specify surface to ambient radiation: In the Simulation study tree, right-click the Thermal Loads folder and select Radiation . The Radiation PropertyManager appears. Set Type to Surface to ambient. In the graphics area, click the outer face of the shield as shown in the figure. Under Radiation Parameters, do the following: Select C (Celsius) as the unit for temperature then type 30 in the Ambient Temperature value box. Set the Emissivity to 1. Set the View Factor to 1.
