Viewing Reaction Forces

To plot and probe reaction forces:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the Results folder and select Define Displacement Plot .
  2. In the PropertyManager, under Display:
    1. Select RFY: Y Reaction force for Component .
    2. Select lbf for Units .
  3. Under Deformed shape, select User defined.
  4. Click .
  5. To probe reaction forces:
    1. Right-click Displacement3 (-Y reaction-) and select Probe .
    2. Select the lower left and lower right nodes in the graphics area.
    3. Click .
    The reaction force at the lower left node is 48,000 lbs. The reaction force at the lower right node is 16,000 lbs. Both values match the theoretical calculations for this truss.
