Creating an Offset Surface for the Seat

You can also use surfacing tools to create surface bodies for the seat as an alternative way. Model the seat as a surface body by offsetting faces of the solid body.

  1. In the FeatureManager design tree right-click frame<1> and select Open Part .
  2. Click Offset Surface (Surfaces toolbar).
    To display the Surfaces toolbar, click Tools > Customize. In the Customize dialog box, on the Toolbars tab, select Surfaces and click OK.
  3. In the PropertyManager, select the three faces shown for Surface or Faces to Offset .
  4. Click Flip Offset Direction and set the Offset Distance to 1.5mm, half the thickness of the seat.
    The top faces of the seat offset inward to the mid-section of the body. You can also select the bottom faces of the seat to offset outward; the result is the same.
  5. Click .
  6. Click File > Save to This PC.
  7. Click File > Close to return to the assembly document.
    When prompted to rebuild the assembly, click Yes.
