Defining Horizontal Cylinder as Composite Shell To define the horizontal cylindrical shell as a composite shell: In the Partial study tree, right-click the horizontal cylindrical shell SurfaceBody 1(Surface-Trim1) and select Edit Definition. Repeat steps of the procedure used to define the vertical cylinder as a composite shell and apply the same material type. In the Shell Definition PropertyManager: Under Composite Options, select Show other composite shells. Under Composite Orientation, clear Mirror Orientation. In the composite shell plies table, highlight Ply number 2 (45 degrees). Notice that the grey arrow shows the ply angle of 45 degrees. In general, you can also define a different laminate layup for the horizontal cylinder, since it is a different shell. Notice that the blue arrows point consistently outward for both shells. Click .
