Defining von Mises Stress Constraint

You impose a constraint on the maximum von Mises stress that it should not exceed a value of 300 MPa. You can use any sensor or driven global variable to define constraints for an Optimization Design Study. For more information about defining sensors as constraints in a Design Study see SOLIDWORKS Simulation Help: Defining Constraints.

  1. On the MinVolume Design Study tab, in the Constraints section, make sure the stress sensor you just created is selected.
  2. For the constraint, select Is less than.
  3. For Max, type 300 N/mm^2.
The program automatically selects the ReadyStatic study to run and track the sensor's value since only one static study is defined.
