Creating and Placing Parts Lists

Use the AM_PartList command to create a parts list and place it in the graphics area.

A parts list is derived from a Bill of Material (BOM).

At the command line, select on which BOM you want to base the parts list, which you then detail in the Parts List dialog box and finally place in the graphics area.

You can do the following:

  • Sort the parts list. You can sort the part list according to specified sort criteria.
  • Edit a value in a cell.
  • Change item number. You can change the item number to reflect the current sort order.
  • Merge rows. You can manually merge two or more rows. Additionally, you can split a merged row.
  • Use column splitting. You can wrap parts list columns when the number of data rows exceed a specified value. It is useful for fitting long parts lists on a single drawing sheet.

To create and place a parts list:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • On the ribbon, click Mechanical Annotate > BOM > Parts List.
    • On the menu, click Mechanical Annotate > BOM > Parts List.
    • Type AM_PartList.
  2. Specify an option:
    • Main. You must set the main BOM as the current BOM to create a parts list that contains all the parts in the drawing.
    • <BOM name>. Lets you set a BOM other than the main BOM.
    • ? to list. Displays a list of existing BOMs.
  3. In the Parts List dialog box, modify the layout of the parts list and change the appearance of the parts list data.

    See Parts List Dialog Box.

  4. Click OK.

The parts list appears attached to the cursor.

  5. In the graphics area, specify the location of the parts list.

Note: Parts lists are placed on a specific layer (By default, AM_5)
