Ribbon Cable Clips

Ribbon cable clips restrain the cable at selected points along the route to help you define the path of the cable.

Ribbon cable clips contain:

  • An axis to define the centerline of the route as it passes through the clip.
  • A coordinate system to define the alignment of the ribbon cable as it passes through the clip.

To access clips provided with the software, on the Design Library tab of the Task Pane, browse to routing\electrical\ribbon cable.

Ribbon cable clips work the same way as clips in route assemblies but also require a specified coordinate system. See Support for Clip Assemblies and Clip Parts in the Routing Component Wizard.

You can use virtual clips to help you control the path of the cable without adding hardware to the assembly. The virtual clip does not require any solid geometry. You can exclude the virtual clip from the bill of materials.
