Inserting 3DEXPERIENCE Components Into SOLIDWORKS Assemblies

3DEXPERIENCE users can insert 3DEXPERIENCE components into SOLIDWORKS assemblies as 3DEXPERIENCE components.

To insert 3DEXPERIENCE components into SOLIDWORKS assemblies:

  1. Open a SOLIDWORKS assembly.
  2. In the 3DEXPERIENCE panel, search for the component, then drag it into the assembly.
The software inserts the component as a 3DEXPERIENCE component. To edit the 3DEXPERIENCE component, you need to create a derived part from it.
  3. Optional: To create a derived part in the context of the assembly:
    1. In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click the component and select Create Derived Part.
    2. In the Create Derived Part dialog box, enter a Title and click Create.
  4. Click Save.
In the FeatureManager design tree, the 3DEXPERIENCE component icon changes to a SOLIDWORKS part icon. The 3DEXPERIENCE component is a child of the SOLIDWORKS part. MySession shows SOLIDWORKS as the CAD Format.
You can also save to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform whenever you want after you create the derived part.
