Editing Smart Fasteners

You can change the type, size, length, and other editable dimensions of a Smart Fastener. You can flip Smart Fasteners used in through holes. You can also drag holes in the fastener tree to change the type of fastener assigned to a hole or to split a hole series.

To edit Smart Fasteners:

    Right-click Smart Fastener in the FeatureManager design tree and select Edit Smart Fastener.

    The Smart Fasteners PropertyManager appears.

To change the type of Smart Fastener:

  1. Under Results, select the Group whose fastener type you want to change.

  2. Under Series Components, in Fastener, right-click and select Change fastener type.

    The Smart Fastener dialog box appears.

  3. Select from the following:

    • Standard

    • Type

    • Fastener. Displays the full range of available fasteners based on the Standard and Type selected.

  4. Click OK.

You can change the fastener type for a Series by clicking Edit Grouping and right-clicking the Series in the fastener tree.

To change the parameters of Smart Fasteners:

  1. Under Results, select the Group whose fastener parameters you want to change.

  2. Under Properties, select a parameter to change and choose a new value or option from the list. Repeat for other parameters as needed.

You can change the properties for a Series by clicking Edit Grouping, right-clicking the Series in the fastener tree, and selecting Properties.

To flip Smart Fasteners:

  1. Under Results, click Edit Grouping.

  2. Expand the Group in the fastener tree.

  3. Right-click the Series you want to flip and select Flip.

    The heads of the fasteners in the selected series flip to the other side of the joint.

It is not recommended to edit the individual parameters of a Toolbox part using Edit Sketch or Edit Definition. These functions do not update the Toolbox database.
