New/Edit Template - Icon

Use this screen to assign a template icon. The icon appears next to the template name in the list of templates from the File Explorer New menu.

To display this screen:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • To create a new template, right-click Templates and click New Template.
    • To edit an existing template, double-click the template.
  2. In the left pane, click Icon.

Extension

Type a file name extension, or select an extension from the list. The icon you select does not have to match the files created by the template.

If the template creates SOLIDWORKS files and you want the template to appear in the SOLIDWORKS new file dialog box, specify a SOLIDWORKS file extension.
