Setting Options

Users with access to the Administration tool can access administration functions that affect their File Explorer view.

For details on the settings you can change, see SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM Administration Tool Help:Users and Groups > User Settings.

This procedure describes how to change Explorer settings:

  • If you want Enterprise PDM to automatically check out files when you access them using the Open or Edit command
  • If you do not want to have to use Get Latest Version to ensure you have the latest version of a file

To view and modify Explorer settings:

  1. In File Explorer, select Tools > EPDM Administration.
  2. In the Administration tool, expand Users.
  3. Right-click your user name and click Settings.
  4. In the left pane of the Settings dialog box, click Explorer.
  5. To set the Enterprise PDM software to automatically check out files, under Checkout files when, select one or both of the following:
    • The Open command is executed
    • The Edit command is executed
  6. To ensure that you have the latest version of referenced files:
    1. In the left pane, click Reference Dialog.
    2. Under Check out and version access control, select Auto select reference files to get latest version when checking out and Always work with latest version of files.

      Always work with latest version of files was previously available on the Explorer tab of the Settings dialog box, under Miscellaneous.

  7. Click OK.
  8. Close the Administration tool.
